That antenna design was by Oswald G. Villard, Jr., W6QYT. It was I believe
written about in the WRTH at one time. Mr. Villard passed away in the last few
years.

Take a Look at this Hard-Core DX webpage.
"Antenna for Reducing SkyWave Interference"
Written by Dr. O. G. Villard, Jr.
http://www.hard-core-dx.com/nordicdx.../reducin1.html
.
FWIW - This design is for ShortWave "SkyWave" Signal Reception.
.
NOTE - This is from a prior posting to this NewsGroup.
"Home Brew Noise Canceling (Anti-Jamming) Antenna"
.
This Antenna was Originally Designed as a simple and easy to
build Anti-Jamming Antenna for Radio Free Europe Listeners.
http://www.ibb.gov/engineering/antenna1.html
.
They also Claimed that this Antenna should work with reducing
'man made' local noise. A so called "Coplanar-Twin-Loop" (CTL)
.
This special and unusual Antenna was designed by a research
scientist at Stanford Research Institute; Dr. O.G. Villard.
If you want a paper to read with substantially more information on
the theory and construction of the Antenna authored by the inventor
see the article in QST, 'The Coplanar-Twin-Loop Antenna'
- - - September 1988, pages 29-35.

Yeah, somebody on this group mentioned that they have this antijamming
antenna design up on the Radio Free Asia website, with text in Chinese
of course. I wonder if it would actually work with a typical Degen or
Tecsun radio, which doesn't have terrific selectivity to begin with. I'm
sure that tianli would have more info on what the average Chinese does
to listen to "forbidden" broadcasts with a small portable that's easily
overloaded.
