BBC/DW Caribbean SW Relay Station Mothballed: crude oil costs too much....
This is what I have heard, can anyone fill in more info on this?

Yes, apparently the Antigua site is being either downgraded or mothballed.
Services are to be switching from there to Fr. Guiana, Bonaire, and other sites
apparently where there is excess transmitter capacity.

Most of that stuff runs by large generators, so fuel is indeed a concern.

DW also used to broadcast via Montserrat, however that transmitter location was
destroyed by a volcanic eruption a number of years ago (1995).

Bonaire has a surplus of desert & wind galore;
they ought to consider putting up a Wind Farm to power their
transmitters...

Apparantly there are many second hand wind turbines to be had..
& this woould seem an ideal use for them
