Very glad that I bought mine 18 mos ago from Gigaparts - I absolutely love
this radio. Now that it is being discoed, I don't think I will ever sell it. Replaced an FRG100 with it and am very pleased with the performance right out of the box. IMO, best shortwave out there for its price... |

called grove enterprises and they know nothing aboutthe R75 or the R8B
being discontinued. hard to believe two of the top SW receiver vendors in this country can't keep a grip on two of their most important products !!! |

The order taker must not have a clue. Their wesbite is explicit:
"Availability Note: Icom has discontinued the R75. No replacement is currently planned. Universal Radio obtained a quantity of this model before it was discontinued. We are pleased to be able continue to offer this excellent radio." |

My question is...the R75 seems to still be a very popular receiver. Why
would they discontinue it at this point? It's not all that old even, is it? Someone earlier asked about the Yaesu FRG-100...I believe that one is discontinued as well. Passport 2005 mentions that. |

I would like to hope that Icom will announce another high performing
receiver, but I think they are discontinuing it because of lack of demand. Kenwood departed from the SWL market a decade ago after producing one of the finest receivers ever to hit the amateur market - the R5000. If Taesu is gone (I don't know that) I guess this leaves AOR and Japan Radio as makers of high performance shortwave receivers.
