E-bay...Are we supposed to believe everything?
 

A "NEW IN BOX " Sony 2010. Obviously, it was TAKEN OUT of the box for the
photo. The seller states he bought it in 1999 and NEVER USED it. How do we
know he didn't play with it for 6 years and just pull out the original box
and packing for the photo?

I guess it just depends on how much you are willing to believe. I just see a
lot of this on E-bay and become suspicious of the truth.

Some people are buying it. Currently the high bid is at $455.00 with 2-1/2
hours to go. Will be interesting to see the final bid.

I'm always wary of those claims too. Why would someone buy an expensive
radio and *never* use it?

At the same time, it does help when the seller provides many very
clear, close up photos of the item, which this seller does. The seller
may have used this 2010, but it does look to be in excellent shape.

Another story I often read and find it hard to believe is this: "I
bought this (very expensive) receiver about six months ago, but I now
realize that I just don't have time to use it." Wouldn't you buy an
expensive receiver only if you were prepared to *make* time to use it?
I would, but then maybe these people just have money to burn.

Or sort of like the creampuff 1954 Pontiac (or was it a Chevrolet?)
owned by the little old lady in Pasadena and she only drove it to Church
and the foodstore once a week and always parked it in an enclosed garage
and kept it perfectly maintained.

No, it means new in box. One could assume it was unused...but merchandise
can be removed from the box, and still be classified as NIB.

Jeez, $680 final bid... and they only went for around $250 new.

For that price you could have bought a new Icom R75 when they were still
available, and have some cash left over for optional accessories.
