The hot wire and the ground wire on my $2.00 Transceiver each have a
bayonet (for lack of what I know, that's what I call them) plug on the
wires which were oviously installed at the factory.

Dummy Load? I know what that means, but what sort of a dummy load do I
need to use or buy before I hook up my $2.00 Transceiver?

I want to at least see if it works. But that won't be untill I have the
proper antenna and whatever else I need to hook it up properly. There is
at least one of two radio repair shops in the Jackson area that can
repair my Transceiver properly if it needs repair or at least somebody
around here knows something about that. And the third Thursday of each
month (I think it is the third Thursday of each month) some ham radio
operators have a meeting at the Red Cross building on Riverside Drive
here in Jackson.I think I will start attending some of those
meetings.Like I said before,my $2.00 Transcevier looks to me like it is
in very good condition.I don't think it has ever been used before
because it looks almost brand new to me.The mounting bracket for
mounting it in a vehicle that came with it has never been used before
either and the little screws (four little black screws and four larger
chrome plated screws) are still in the little zip lock baggy.

What you have is an ADI Ham Radio Transciever for VHF communications.
Frequency
band is 144 to 148 mHz. Its worth a couple of bucks to a ham operator.

I went to the Goodwill thrift store this afternoon (it's only seven
tenths of a mile South of my doggys couch,I just can't seem to stay from
that place) and for $2.00 I bought an AR-147 + Transceiver (it says on
the box,Transceiver) and it says 60 Watts Out! on High Power. The Adi
hand held remote control/microphone has some buttons on it such as
CALL,VFO,MR,MHz and buttons from 1 through 9 and of course the 0 button
and four buttons,A B C D and * and # buttons.On the front of the device
it has buttons VFO and MR and MHz.Under the VFO button it says M V and
under the MR button it says M and under the MHz button it says
Lock.Under the diaplay screen it has buttons F and CALL and SHFT and
TONE and DTMF.On the right hand side of the display screen are two
little knobs,VOL and SQ and to the right of those knobs are two
buttons,LOW and PWR and the cord of the microphone connects to the front
of the device/transceiver.It all looks fairly new looking to me.On the
back of the device is a cord for an antenna connection and of course the
hot wire and the ground wire. Also,on the back of the device is jack for
an extenal speaker.I do have some CB radio antennas here.I haven't
gotten around yet to hooking it up and seeing if it works. There is spare
fuse and if the device won't light up,I will see about changing the
fuse.I wonder if y'all might have some information about the device.I
think it's a CB radio because I own some old CB radios and a couple of
them look similar to this one.I also bought a PC Warehouse System 486
desktop computer for $25.00 dollars at the Goodwill thriftstore this
afternoon too.As if I need another damn computer anyway.I already own
about 16 computers.

Well,I only paid a couple of bucks plus Mississippi RIPP OFF 7% sales
tax for my $2.00 Transceiver radio so I am going to hang on to it
whether it works or not.I will try it out (although I am in no hurry at
all) though whenever I find out more information about how to properly
hook it up.I don't get out driving around at night time anymore because
I like to be at home before night time rolls around.Perhaps in two or
three months when it starts getting dark here after 8:30 PM night
times,I might take it with me to one of the amateur ham radio meetings
at the Red Cross building.Their meetings over there on the third
Thursdays of each month start at about 7:00 PM.I can take it over there
and ask a few quick questions and I can drive back home before night
time.Meanwhile,I am going to put it in one of my closets and forget all
about it.
