What if: BBC World Service Relay Station in the Falkland Islands (c. 1977)

For simplicity, I will say that it will have the following capabilities: 2 x 100 kw SW transmitters 3 x 500 kw rated HR 4/4/1 directional antennas aimed at Western South America & Pacific Islands (NZ & Australia) -- HR 4/4/1 is a very standard antenna type, with 23dbi gain I will assume that the site is placed next to the sea near cliffs, but some 50 km from Port Stanley. I will assume that it is desil powered, but would only run 12 hours / day [high-power] to save on costs. I will assume that Patagonia would get about 18 hours / day of BBC WS service =========== Conjectu The Falkland's War would not have happened due to this showing of super power strength, among dozens of other military related issues assumed to be constant... =========== |
