Someone wanna try to tell me THIS ain't Gestapo tactics?
Passport Required To Re-Enter U.S.
4/5/2005 11:00 PM (WROC-TV) Better have a passport the next time you plan to go to Canada, it'll soon be the law. The Departments of State and Homeland Security announced the "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative" today. It will require all U.S. citizens, Canadians, Mexicans, and citizens of Bermuda to have a passport to enter or re-enter the U.S. Currently Americans only have to show their driver's license or another government approved ID. The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act passed last December by Congress mandates this change. Assistant Secretary Of State Maura Harty says, "The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is an important step in protecting homeland security and DHS and the State Department will use all available resources to implement this travel initiative by the deadline set forth in law." Americans will have to display documentation to get back into the U.S., if traveling by land or sea, by the end of 2005. That expands to all travel to the U.S. by 2006. -- Illigitimus non tatum carborundum (Don't let the *******s wear you down) |

Reciprocity will be in effect. You will have to have one to enter Canada
also and I assume the other countries also. But they are also going to have a "smart card" system, where frequent travellers can get a card that will allow for quick passage. It will contain a biometric indicator or two. So it'll be Gestapo and 1984 type tactics depending on whether yopt to pay another fee to get the new card thing. I just love how they use the 'buzzwords' of NAZI and GESTAPO... they, as usual, haven't a damn frickin clue... and hopefully like the NAZI's and the GESTAPO, they will wind up in the dust bin of history. dxAce Michigan USA "Brenda Ann" wrote in message ... Hi Brinda,
This I have to go along with, we have to close our borbers. Most every country in the world require that I have a passport and some require a visa to get into and out of. Today I spent $75 on my wifes Philippine passport and it is going to cost me $1,000 plus Atty fees (if I use one) to get her a Green Card the 15th. My wife refuses to be "out of satatus" one day even if we are planing to relocate to the Philippines asap. So, if I have to show my passport every time I return to the USA then everyone should. If I have pay all the fees I have to pay for a passport then everyone should, I don't want to be treated better, I just want everyone treated the same. Be glad you don't have to pay the "kick backs" I have to pay to get a work permit in the countries I going to, work permits or just a way to get more money and kick backs for the sorry A Hold's that take care of you. As an American I hate to have to payoff some SOB just to work in his country trying to help them. Just for the hell of it look at Indonesia, they were given aid based on the number of dead and hurt and now they are cutting the number by 60 %. They also forced the workers who were helping to buy "work permits"!!!! Think about what I am saying, we are giving the world a free ride and they stick it to us every chance they get!!!! Burr |

Soon we will have an "internal passport" that you will be required to show just to go from one end of town to the other, or go from one metro area to another, or between states. In Russia they're reintroducing the internal passport system of the Soviet years in order to stop terrorism. Osama must love the west, one or two big attacks and we're flailing around destroying ourselves and all we hold dear just for a false sense of security. Whatever happened to the home of the free? It's now the home of the scared, people willing to give their freedoms in the hopes of being protected from the Big Bad Terrorists. The problem is that there are always holes, even if you have 100% security and a total police state you can't stop a determined terrorist. All it does is makes slaves of law abiding people. But people don't seem to care, they'd rather be in prison camps because the camp represents security. Unfortunately, the terrorists can cut the fences, while the people inside can't. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Actually, what I was trying to impart was that there is little point in controlling the legal border crossings of citizens from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico if the illegal border crossings continue unchecked. Especially if the control is being done under the guise of "Homeland Security". When the U.S. creates such a situation (as with mandatory passports), one needs to look for the true purpose for such ludicrous measures. Something is afoot. I suspect that part of it is a looming draft in this country, and the authorities fear an exodus of people to Canada. The irony is that Canada, in a departure from its otherwise liberal policies, won't want the people trying to flee the U.S., yet the same people that wish to refuse the U.S. citizens entry into Canada likely are the ones condemning the U.S. for not allowing Mexicans into the U.S. Remember, we still have many nations to conquer, and a nation of dumbed down unskilled people that are out of work and money is ripe for the plucking. An article that I saw within the last couple of days says that the pentagon is beginning to believe that China is a military threat, yet we continue to finance China by buying virtually everything that we sell at retail level. And while observing the legal limit you're never blocked faster traffic that was behind you in the passing lane? . On the other hand, if that remark was purely meant to be tongue in cheek, ignore all of the above. ;) . -R- Notice the small 'i' in my post. While "I" may in-good-faith "Intend" to Obey the Law; 'i' may in-practice by happenstance break the law. There! See what that unconventional grammatical style and off the wall punctuation gets you? How am I supposed to know the difference between definitions of a capital I and a lower-case one when you write? Argh[.] FWIW - Most of 'us' on average simply fail to get caught when 'we' unintensionally break the law ;-) I was going to make that point myself when I thought you were saying you never broke the law. Although I'm certain that you only obey what you feel are "just" laws, correct? . -R- The Law -IS- The Law [.] Now... That - There Ought To Be A Law ! Actually, I was hoping that you would say you only obey just laws. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. ;) FWIW - For 'me' Life is Simple : To OBEY "The Law" -and- To BE a "Good Citizen" Again, hoping that you don't obey blindly. BAD - Did Not Mark 'her original' Post as Off-Topic (OT) and my Reply with a 'modified' Subject Line was not marked (OT). I would Note that 'you' yourself did not mark your Reply as (OT) . That's because I very rarely change thread titles or subjects. I try to follow convention for the sake of other people's reading enjoyment, and allow the thread to flow along as a single entity that can be easily filtered or ignored. What you do is essentially evade killfiles. Anyone using Outlook and the "ignore conversation" feature is still subject to the thread. . -R- Most Readers of this NewsGroup that choose have 'my' Screen Name and/or eMail Address in Their KillFiles. So "They" Do NOT Have To Read 'me'. However, if you post after 'me' then 'you' may be exposing them to some of 'my' posts and as such the admonition : "Please Don't Feed the Jack Ass !" C'est Moi ! It wouldn't matter either way. They either read my replies to you in the original thread, or they'll read them to you in the new thread. There's no point to making a new thread...that's my point. That's also where the "ignore conversation" filter may come in handy. Not that I ever use it anyway. And I think that particular horse is dead by now. |
"Brenda Ann" wrote in message ... That expands to all travel to the U.S. by 2006. -- Illigitimus non tatum carborundum (Don't let the *******s wear you down) Good grief, Brenda. Ever been to Europe? Better have that passport handy. We're only going to be doing what the rest of the world does every day. That's not "gestapo tactics." -- Stinger |
