Study the Ionosphere

I would like to study to better understand the ionosphere. This way, I
could know which meter or band is open and when.

Does anyone knows of any websites that has this information for newbies?

And, is their a meter chart with a time table available anywhere?
Or an up to date chart where you can locate your location and see what
is open for your area?

Remember the ionosphere is the holy grail for us shortwavers. LOL!

Suggest you search for MUF (Maximum Usable Frequency) information.

There are lots of online resources, but you might try this to find out the
best frequency from your location - updated every hour courtesty of the
Australian Government.

http://www.ips.gov.au/
then go to HF systems,
then go to North America, HAP charts,
hourly HAP Charts.
Select the closest city and get an hourly propagation chart.
