The later version of the SW8 (starting in 1996) have a much better sync'
detector than either the R8 or R8A.

He is a HAM. He used the R8 before he was licensed and since then purchased
a transceiver which works as well as the R8A does for what he needs.

He operates CW and purchased a low power portable transmitter so he can operate
a portable station, probably from batteries. In his opinion an SW8 would make
a good receiver for his portable station.

Since he no longer uses the R8A, an even trade makes a lot of sense to him.
Both parties can communicate directrly so that there are no misunderstandings,
no EBAY fees, etc.

Geoff.

Nevertheless, the R8A is the far superior dx system and of more value on the
market. I have owned both.

The late model (1996) SW8 sells for more than the original R8.
