Discriminator tap for ICOM R-71A

Hello all.

Does anyone happen to know the discriminator
tap point for an ICOM R-71A ?

Thanks,
Bill

I don't know of a reason for obtaining a discriminator output of an HF
receiver, can you explain what this output is for? Several software programs
require it for VHF and there are many websites that describe the location of
unfiltered audio taps to obtain this.

Some outboard devices need the discriminator output which is before
the de-emphasis network which has a flat frequency response. Same as
when the VideoChiper II was added to Sat-TV. There was about a half
dozen approved receivers and pages of "Can not be converted" receivers
for CATV headend use. It didn't stop me from converting all our
Collins-Rockwell receivers to work with VideoChiper. :-)
