No to be a smart ass, but I have been listening to SW for 41 years
next month and in that time it has always had more then it's share
of religion. And when the religion is missing then we had the !@@$
cold war propadanga. NK and Cuba are the last still fighting
that war.

Cuba's got some good music, though. And Arnie's always fun. ^_^

Try local AM or FM stations.

In the age of Big Radio and companies like Clear Channel?

Listening to earth sounds on my natural radio receiver is definitely more
entertaining.

I think he was looking for a shortwave radio station broadcasting
misuc. They are unfortunately rare. Staying with radio broadcast
music I suggested AM & FM.

Earth sounds are more educational and informative that NPR and local
news or more entertaining that local music?

You are certainly entertained in unusual ways...

The battle of the propaganda machines that took place during the Cold
War was really quite something. Easily, the Cold War era represents a
golden age of shortwave broadcasting. Given present trends, we are
unlikely to see anything quite like it ever again on the HF broadcast
bands...

While I enjoy classical music (orchestral -- nothing involving warbling
falsetto vocals), I don't think I could listen to it all the time.
As far as commercial radio is concerned, there's very rarely anything of any
quality any more, which is the point I was trying to make in my first post.
Even local news is a joke, if it exists, unless you're in a top 25 market.
My first gig in radio was news. It was going downhill then.

You are certainly entertained in unusual ways...

Those are my thoughts every time I see a TV spot for a local radio station
and hear the listener testimonials "I love W***!, I listen all day...."

Well, I can't comment on what it is like to work in the business of
radio broadcasting. I can comment on the quality of programming found
on NPR stations, and to be it is well thought out, thought provoking at
times and generally enjoyable. I've also found some truly enjoyable
programs on small town radio stations. The number of stations found on
the dial is certainly a function of locality size, but quality
programming can be found in mosr markets - at least programming that
meets my requirements.

Your comments make me think of a restaurant or theater critic who has
been writing columns too long. Things that would pass by most
listeners loom very big in their eyes, nothing new compares to the way
it was once done, etc.

Funny..that's what my wife said just before she started her cheating ways. I
still don't understand what she could have meant. Was she a Chuck Berry
aficionado also?

I don't know. I don't suppose her name was Maybelline?
