Anybody Know Anything About The Aiwa WR-A100 Pocket Portable?
You're lucky I never throw anything away.
A review of this radio appears on page 100 of the 1993 Passport ot World Band Radio. It is also known as the Sangean MS-101 and the Roberts R101. It received one and a half stars. Price: Sangean: $84 in the United States, CAN$99.95 in Canada, $65-125 in Europe (EC), and AUS$99.95 in Australia; Aiwa: $109.95 in the United States. Advantages: Inexpensive. Travel power lock. FM stereo through headphones. Disadvantages: No digital frequency display. Limited world band coverage. Mediocre adjacent-channel and spurious-signal ("image") rejection. Inferior audio. Dial not illunminated. No meaningful signal-strength indicator. No AC power supply. Comment: Aiwa styled differently from other versions of this model. Bottom Line: A low-priced, plain-vanilla portable of interest almost exclusively to the weight- and price-conscious traveler. Also sold under other names, inclucuding Curry's, Dixons, Goodmans, and Siemens. |
