.... and will really try your suggestion...
.... but, I was looking for something I could also "McGuiver"(sp?) to work on the next cruise ship... longwires are great for camping... hard to find trees on those ships... .... kinda afraid what the captain will say when he sees me on deck--slingshot in hand looking around at the booms and masts... dropping something down the porthole might work... and I do suppose sal****er is some sort of ground... grin Warmest regards, John "Hal Rosser" wrote in message .. . Try clipping the pull-out antenna to a ground rod. For some reason, that seems to work better than a long slingshot. I tried Slingshot -kiddie antennas once and found a ground wire works better for portables. ;-) |

Actually, it may be, and it may have had nothing to do with that guy
wire/ground wire you were visually looking at (well, not directly--and it serving as an antenna)... in the presence of VERY STRONG magnetic fields, rf fields can be dramatically warped and rf fields bent and focused... and, it is not uncommon to find hundreds of amps (in some instances thousands have been recorded), at a very low voltage, around such poles... but that is a whole different story which has not been investigated well yet... Don't mind teleprobe....I've dealt with him before.
When you look up rectal probe in the dictionary, you find his picture.....He oft complains about RRAA being a crib of inbred morons, but who do I now see here at RRAA acting a total fool..... ""I don't like him one bit. I think he is a waste of time. He posts in a number of news groups that interest me and is the reason I don't post in any of them. "" Sheesh.... What a chicken@*$% whiner....I don't really care for Telamon too awful much either, but you don't see me whining about it, or avoiding his usual roost of r.r. shortwave....I just ignore him. I don't killfile anyone. Killfiles are for girly men that can't deal with confrontation. Telly said he killfiled me months ago, so he shouldn't be able to see any of this message.... MK |
