Le massacre
"I felt squeezed and pressed as my pants were pulled into the tank's metal belts. I was still conscious, though, and I felt as though my body was being dragged along a bumpy road. My head, back, and shoulders were all bleeding. If your Chinese buddies had an ounce of initiative they would have risen up and overthrown their oppressive government a long time ago. Yup, hundreds of thousands would probably die, but the result would be that they would have freedom. If you're not willing to die for freedom, you don't deserve it. Same problem when the Cubans and the Haitians came crawling up on our shores recently asking us to overthrow their regimes. Do it themselves with the equipment we offered? Heavens no! They might get killed! Let Uncle Sam do it. No more, folks! The Bay of Pigs fiasco was enough. Again, post your political crap elsewhere. Try the Chinese govt's website, or do your testicles shrivel at the thought? Same problem when the Cubans and the Haitians came crawling up on our shores recently asking us to overthrow their regimes. Do it themselves with the equipment we offered? Heavens no! They might get killed! Let Uncle Sam do it. No more, folks! The Bay of Pigs fiasco was enough. Well, the Chinese DID try to overthrow their govt in 1989. There were massive demonstrations at Tiananmen Square in the heart of Beijing. But the CCP sent in the tanks and killed everybody, and ever since the Chinese have had little will for overthrowing the Communist Party. Now that most urban Chinese are living a comfortable life thanks to trade, the possibility of a revolution has diminished even further. Of course, if there was to be a massive economic collapse in the US resulting in the Americans not being able to buy all the stuff that China produces, all bets are off. It's funny how all these people want Yanqui to go home, except when Uncle Sam has something they want, then suddenly they want America to do their dirty work for them. It's reminiscent of the countries that tried for decades to get the Americans to close their bases and leave, but when the Pentagon did exactly that suddenly they realized that their economies would be devastated by the Americans going home and then started protesting to keep the bases open. They wanted American money without Americans. Sorry, doesn't work that way, no free lunch. The Germans will soon realize this if/when the giant American bases in their country close. They want the "American occupation" to end, but when it does it'll wipe out local economies that have been dependent on American largesse for 60 years. Germany's loss will be Poland's gain. Poland is more than happy to have American bases, and has been campaigning hard to get them. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

You're right: things have nicened up there for a lot of the people in China so the will to revolt is gone. The Chinese are becoming like a lot of us Americans: fat, lazy and complacent. I was in Germany when the first base closed: Zweibruecken AFB back in the late 80's. The first people to yodel were the taxidrivers as their main source of income left. I'm pretty much 100% Kraut (well Austrian - same difference), and I was sorely embarassed by the way the people acted. You are also correct that everyone wants Yanqui to go home - BUT - leave your wallet. Poland would be good for our bases, but they are already living off of German reparations, so anything else would be gravy to them. My sole point in writing back to Blown Chow (Ralph) or whatever the hell the person's name is, was that I got sick of their political rants in response to every post that looked at buying a Chinese radio or something.
