Allan Weiner of WBCQ a former pirate ???

Hiya...

I'm ashamed to ask this remedial question being that I have enjoyed so may
WBCQ shows over the years.

I know Weiner of WBCQ fame was a pirate at one time, but I dont know any
detailed history. What exactly was he doing ??? Operating from a boat off
shore until he got busted ??? Could anyone give me some basic info on his
pirate days ???? What sort of content did he broadcast ???

Thanx in advance !!!

Another source is one of the pirate radio books that
Andrew Yoder wrote as well.

Alan, along with a bunch of others, thought they'd
found a loophole in regulations allowing them to
broadcast offshore from a foreign ship in international
waters. So, Radio Newyork International was born.
Alas for Alan and company, the feds raided the
ship and their little experiment didn't work out.

As for the programming, think Pacifica. Counterculture
stuff.
