A couple of other dealers have had these for sale (or auction) over the
last 2-3 weeks. Would be nice to have a review before jumping in with a
first production run sample. Besides, the fact that this radio does not
have SSB is a deal-breaker for many.

I agree. You would think they would try and offer more features and options
then the 1103. Why would someone want to get something worse not better?

I think the 1103 beats the other new Degen out the 1107. I'd stick with the
1103.

Hi Mike!

Why would you want the 1105 if you own a 1103? If you don't own the 1103,
why buy the 1105 over the 1103 anyway?
Just to collect it?

The 1105 looks like a great pocket radio for the price. Right now, the
only other "economy" pocket SW radio I can think of is the Grundig Mini
PE100, and it's not a very good performer. The now discontinued Sony
SW 100S was a fantastic pocket-sized radio, but at $400+ it was not an
option for many consumers.

I think the 1105 fills an important niche in the SW market.

Hi Mike!

But the 1103 is pocket sized. I can carry it around in the back pocket of my
pants very easily. It will even fit sideways into some shirt top pockets if
they are a little bigger then usual. The antenna folds up very tightly and
neatly and most of the time you don't even need to extend it with MW and FM.

And, for a price of $65 shipped, while the 1105 is $62, I don't see why
anyone would want one over the 1103.

The 1105 is limited to 5.8-2.6 SW while the 1103 is .30 to 30MHz **PLUS does
SSB all for the price. I can't even see the reason Degen came out with it if
they are going to price it at the same price as the 1103.

The ONLY option I do like on it is it needs only 2 AA's while the 1103 needs
4 and I can see some people that are into really tiny portables. The smaller
the better.

Also, it has 1000 memories as opposed to 256 on the 1103. Who needs 1000
frequencies imo for a portable? 256 frequencies on file is not enough?
Again, the size diff is not trememdous. I'm looking at price/performance.

SSB can be fun. Why not have it also?

Lucky
