5717 SAR Newbie Quest. ?

Hi,

Saw the SAR post re 5717 of a few days ago.

New at this.

Is this a very common, and often used SAR freq. ?
Any others used more often off of eastern seaboard (I'm outside of Boston) ?

Is it USB ?

Thanks,
B.

It is USB. At least in my experience, 5717 is the most active frequency
for the Canadian Coast Guard. It seems like once every few months I
catch a little 'drama' on this frequency.

Hi,

Thanks for info.

Any idea what the most popular U.S.C.G. freq. (around Boston) SAR would be ?

Robert, you may also want to listen to the U.S. Coast Guard on 8982,
daytime, and 5695, nighttime. Most utilities freq's are USB.

The Canucks also use 6715 for SAR.
