Icom IC R-9000
 

I have a chance to buy one of these but I don't know what they are
selling for. Can anyone point me to a recent sale? Was this the most
expensive radio made?

Far away from that.
Military and marine radios are MUCH more expensive and go into the
some10k$ range new.

I guess they're still worth $5k or so, at least. Their main weaknesses
are the CRTs (the later IC-R9000L used an LCD) and some synthesizer
fault related to bad solder joints; they also tend to run fairly hot.
That's all IIRC and from what I read on the net.
