I just have a hard time paying for radio (signals, that is).
heck I don't even have cable or satellite tv.
Now if the sw part of the radio is amazing, I might consider it, but
for the price, there has to be better options.

You don't have to buy the satellite antenna it's an extra.

The radio has some nice features and it looks to me that they paid
attention to the audio sound quality it can produce so it may have great
sound.

It only has a whip antenna so the AMBCB reception may not be great
unless you hook up an appropriate antenna.

It could be a winner!

Most Cars and Truncks 'only' have a Whip Antenna
and in general their AM/MW Reception is very good.

imho ~ RHF
. . . . .

That's because in that case the whip is handling both AM and FM
reception (never understood how that works), we don't know yet if the
E1's whip will operate that way though.

If not, you could get a Jensen amplified AM/FM antenna. Not sure how
much it costs or if it's still being made, I bought mine some time ago
at Wal-Mart. It sorta' looks like a black rendering of Washington
Monument with a small knob near the bottom to adjust the amp and a green
LED letting you know that the amp is on. The AM lead-in on this thing
connects via two lugs which can be lopped off with a wire stripper if
necessary. The FM lead-in is a 75-ohm coax connector with a supplied
matching transformer.
