Incident At CCrane?
|
Interesting.. & settled out of court.
" " Sangean settled its part of the case after only a few days of testimony. The terms of the settlement agreement were not disclosed. Speaking from his office in El Monte, Calif., last week, Kevin Wang would say only that it allowed his company and C. Crane to get back to doing business together, and that he was happy for that. " "" Sangean doubtless has deep pockets.. Thanks for posting this; & it's obviously a Very small community. |
"DeWayne" wrote in message . .. http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html C Crane does have excellent customer service however their prices for radios and similar things are rather on the high side. I put them in the same merchandise/marketing class as Brookstone, LL Bean, New England Candle Company and similar retailers. I would like to buy from C Crane and similar "high end" catalog retailers, but when I can go to Grove Enterprises and similar outlets who carry the same products for often 30% less.....guess where I'm going to shop! It's like buying gasoline. Real-World example: The Shell station this afternoon had Regular going for $2.41. Right across the street there was a Citgo station selling Regular for $2.32 Take a guess where I filled up at this afternoon! (grin) |
Would I buy from CCrane -NO-overpriced
Would I trust Chris Justice-came across in article as HONEST thief. Moral Of Story-GREED |
DeWayne wrote: http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html Seems to me that Messrs. Justice and Williams got off rather easily. dxAce Michigan USA |
- Agree.. ; Indicating Crane isn't such a bad guy.. & he paid Justice $100,000 / yre too! Generous.. I'll check out his website.. |
I like the people at CCrane ok.It is just the Sangean radios I dont care
for. When I worked at a factory in St.Louis that makes wooden jigs for Aircraft parts in 1961,I owned a battery powered Honeywell radio that also had a little solar panel on top of the radio.I bought it at a pawn shop in St.Louis,it was a great little radio. One evening when I got off work and back to my hotel room (Kingsland Hotel,6668 Delmar Blvd,I doubt if that old hotel is there anymore,it was so run down even back then,I paid $25.00 each week for my rent at that old hotel,an old guy by the last name of Walker ran that hotel) somebody had broken into my room and stole my radio and a few other things of mine. cuhulin |
DeWayne wrote: http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html C. Crane Co. has been exceptionally quiet about the high failure rate of the digital frequency display of the CCRadio. My old "standard" GE SRll and Superadio 3 have no problems at all. Until they acknowledge that and have a no-charge fix for such an obvious problem, they will not get anymore business from me. Likewise, the over-hyped Super ATS-909, from Radiolabs, they should have left the narrow filter alone. The stock ATS-909 was a little deaf off the internal whip, but Radiolabs went too far in modding the radio out IMHO. Les |
Very interesting story. Justice sounds like a real piece of work....

Those Select-A-Tennas arn't worth a crap! They are as useless as the
Tiny Tennas.I bought one of them when I bought the first Sangean AM/FM/Weather/TV radio from CCRane that I tried out for a week.I sent that JUNK back to CCRane and I bought a Sangean ATS 909 radio that I tried out for a week from CCRane. Those two radios and that antenna didn't show me anything at all.I sent all that JUNK back to CCRane company.Dig into your computer files/data or your paper files/data,Bob Crane and see for yourslelf. What A RIPP OFF! cuhulin |
DeWayne wrote: http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html I don't buy his excuse for one minute...this was much more than just getting a group of names to test potential products on. From the story: At some point, Williams gave Justice instructions on how to break into Crane's database systems and retrieve the company's list of customers. On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Williams and Justice exchanged a flurry of e-mails. Most of them were during business hours, when Justice would have been sitting at his computer in C. Crane's offices. Justice had successfully obtained the list. .... But both knew that was just the beginning of their problems. In April, C. Crane had filed a 14-count civil suit against them, Wang, Sangean and Justice's father, Jack Justice, who had gone into partnership with his son to develop RadioLabs. The suit charged that these parties conspired to misappropriate C. Crane's trade secrets, to engage in unfair business competition and to interfere with the relationship between C. Crane and its subcontractors. Justice, Willams and Sangean are damn lucky imho. |
That so-called "engineer" (picture/photo) looks like he is "stoned" all
the time. cuhulin |
Justice, Willams and Sangean are damn lucky imho. - We don't know what the settlement was.. Sangean obviously settled rather than losing But Justice & Willaims could have done time.. & Crane wouldn't have settled unless he settled for something worthwhile;; |
DeWayne,

I prefer radios with the old style mechanical analog dials and tuning
anyday, even if they do drift a little bit.My old radios hardley drift enough to worry about at all.Sometimes, old technology is better than new technology.I am going to buy a new CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) HDTV set at Cowboy Maloney's Electric City store next year.I am not the least bit interested in LED's and stuff like that.I like the old technology. cuhulin |

Crane Company screws Chris Justice out of the Royalties from the products that he designed for them. = Chris Justice is Ripped Offed ! How so? 'He was under the impression that Crane had promised him royalties on certain of his inventions, and Crane wasn't delivering.' 'Impressions' just don't cut it. A legal document would! 'Inventions'? Did he have any of his 'inventions' patented? Did C. Crane have any of these so-called 'inventions' patented? If Chris Justice was 'ripped off' then he did it to himself. dxAce Michigan USA |

Directly quoting from the article: "On Oct. 4, 2004, Justice and
Williams both pleaded no contest to misdemeanor larceny counts for theft of the database. Each was sentenced to three years of probation and 150 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $1,300 fine." ------------------ I guess this is modern ethics. Radio Laboratory will get ANY of my business. I had suggested to 2 friends that they send their DX398 for the super upgrade. I called and told both that given the clear cut facts, that the pilot lights would have to be out in Hell before I would even consider dealing with them. If he will screw his employer, he has shown he is a thief, indicated by his guitlty plea, and hasn't shown a lot of remorse. I hope his complany flounders and he ends broke on the street. Maybe he ought to embrace Ebay, his ethics would sure fit in. Terry |
I paid about $57.00 for the Select-A-Tenna I ordered at the same time I
ordered the CCrane AM/FM/Weather/TV radio. The same model CCrane radio Art Bell and George Noory tout so much on www.coasttocoastam.com I tried that antenna according to the directions that came with it and in more ways than you can shake a stick at.I am not lieing, that JUNK did not show me anything worthwhile at all.The antenna did not help one little bit. cuhulin |

http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html I like this part - it's OK to steal C.C.'s database but spammers are the lowest of the low. It's a bit like John Geoghan, the Boston paedophile priest, who was offed in prison by a "decent" murderer. Not to defend spammers but stealing a database is a crime. Spammers frequently commit crimes as part of their spamming and Virginia has a spammer-specific criminal law but in most cases spamming is a civil tort. I don't think I could actually stoop that low besides, even though I just did something that my momma would have told me not to, I still have morals!" Williams: "No I was kidding. I wouldn't do that either but I'm pretty excited about the list though it is dangerous." [close quote] |

I know where they can find some spammers with lots of cash, those
Nigerian spammers. cuhulin |
The hotel was right there near University City and near Big Bend
Blvd,Big Bend Blvd runs South.(South is always best)There used to be a gas station at the corner of Delmar and Big Bend.I joined the U.S.Army on October 28,1962 and when I finished boot camp at Fort Gordon,Georgia,I was in ARADCOM,U.S.Army Air Defense Command at Scott Airforce Base,Illinois and at SL-60 (Nike Hercules Ajax Missile Base) near Pacific,Missouri from January 1963 through October 1963.Back in those days/years,that part of Delmar Blvd was in a run down neighborhood.I used to have a girlfriend who lived in Kirkwood,Missouri.I haven't been in the St.Louis area since October 1963 so I have no idea of what that neighborhood looks like nowdays.I do know since then, many old buildings in St.Lous have been torn down and replaced with new buildings. cuhulin |
I have horror stories of both of them
Dan Robinson told a story a while back that he sent his CRF-330K to them and the charged him hundreds of $$$, didn't fix it in several attempts and basically did a screw job. He had to send it to someone else notice how they DON'T repair radios any more ! I had a CCrane charger and the bottom wires inside the case shorted and almost burned the house down. I called them and I thought that since this was the 3rd one that broke on me and I was warning them of a hazard they would ask for it back and replace it. basically, the only thing they did is offer to sell me a new one !!!! I was not impressed !!!!!!!!! "DeWayne" wrote in message . .. http://www.northcoastjournal.com/080405/cover0804.html |
I wonder if Bob Crane ever reads this news group. It would be good to get
him to comment.Art Bell has read this news group at least once before, because he once said in this news group,Do tune in.Maybe Art Bell could/would get in touch via email or telephone and ask Bob Crane to read this Thread at rec.radio.shortwave news group about,Incident At CCrane.Hey,Art Bell, you out there somewhere? Dont let the spooks and hobgoblins out there in that desert gitcha! cuhulin |

I like St.Louis,I have always liked St.Louis.San Antonio is nice too.I
have been there a few times before. The San Antonio River runs right by a big shopping mall (I dont remember the name of that mall) in downtown San Antonio.A few years ago I saw a website about the old buildings in St.Louis that have been torn down and replaced with new buildings.I think I sent that website to one of my other webtv addresses,I will look for it later on and I saw another website too. www.stlouisrickshaw.com I used to listen to Jim White's radio talk show out of KMOX St.Louis.And when I was at Scott Airforce Base,Illinois,I would listen to KWK and KXOK.Are you a KWK Good Guy!,they used to say and KXOK would say,KXOKKKKKKK in St.Louissssssss,,,,, cuhulin |
