RCI / CBC labour problems

People who are listening to RCI or CBC will have noticed the labour
problems. All the tech and presenter people are locked out while they sort
out. I don't know the full impact on RCI, but I imagine much of it is
simply not on the air, and anything else re-runs. The RCI site doesn't
inform.

I read an article on the internet today or yesterday,Police State Canada
(or something like that) is happening.Perhaps that has something to do
with it.

Is there actually a labor dispute at RCI? RCI's HQ is in Montreal and
I believe the CBC lockout does not effect the union in Quebec.

Of course, most of the English language programming on RCI comes out
of CBC, Toronto (on lockout) and someone said the SRC (French)
reporters are refusing to cross picket lines to report on Parliament
on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River.

"Vinyl Cafe'" didn't air on Sat 2005 08 20. RCI ran some very lame prog
from the MW side.

Some (undoubtedly) old 15-minute segments of Vinyl Cafe were on BBC7

Very interesting, I had no idea that Vinyl Cafe' was
broadcast by the BBC. I will have to start downloading
tem from work, a nice T1, on a PC that can convert
RM to MP3.
Thanks for the info.

The programming consists mainly of music so bad that it needs a strike in order
to be played. dxAce is downright exciting in comparison, as are used toothpicks
and discarded chewing gum.

I miss As it Happens, despite their sometimes obnoxious interview gaffs ands
interruptions of the guests. The Six o'clock news is another missed show.
