Anyone here copying the NAVTEX signals at 518KHz?

I'm hearing a lot of the transmissions on a 7' shielded loop (not nearly as
many on a long dipole) and wondering if anyone has a recommendation for
software that is easy to configure- Windows only please.

I can't recommend any Windows progs but I've been receiving NAVTEX on my
Welcombe loop for some time. I've heard and decoded NAVTEX from as far
west as Newfoundland and as far east as Turkey.

It's a fascinating aspect of the radio hobby. Weather forecasts,
emergency messages about drifting buoys, oil-rig moves etc.

I use a commercial amateur decoder, whose name I have forgotten!

I use the Kantronics KAM XL with a simple 30 meter vertical on my Icom 7800.
All you need then is a simple terminal program or packet program like
winpack and it works great. I also use the Pacterm program a lot but its
pricey...works great on anything covered by the Kam though!
