Grundig G-400A
What is the consensus of opinions on The Grundig G-4000A for a casual
shortwave listener?? It seems to have reasonable spec's but they don't tell the whole story. Any users have anything (good or bad) to comment about this radio?? Thanks GC |
While I agree with you, RHF, one thing the Grundig has going for it is the
audio quality. It is superb! Then again just about any portable with a speaker larger than 2" sounds better than the 7600 GR... "RHF" wrote in message oups.com... "G" - Buy the Sony ICF-SW7600GR which is in the same general price range; and a much better 'portable' AM/FM Shortwave Radio. ~ RHF . . . . . |

Where do people get the idea that it does not sound good? If you park yourself front and center of the 3 1/8 inch speaker the sound is what you would expect to get. If you want better use headphones or ear buds. You also get stereo with the headphones. The web does not tell you what the speaker size is in the Grundig 400PE or E10 or E100 but judging from the case sizes those have about the same size speakers or smaller. I have played with the Grundig 400PE in the store and it didn't sound much different to me than the Sony. What do you expect for a small speaker in a plastic box anyway? -- Telamon Ventura, California |
