Considering how many openly socialist and communist people were at the
Bush-bashing rally over the weekend, I'm not sure there's a difference
between communism and leftism.


There isn't any difference, they are the same. The problem is that most of
the
Left-wing "religious" fanatics don't know anything about history. The long,
well documented
history of Left-wing funding by the Communist Party.

During the Cold War the Soviet Union provided the funding for the Left in
the U.S.
Since their collapse funding is now coming from the Chinese Communist Party.

Notice how the Left will "hi-jack" just about any cause, no matter how
hypocritical, that
manages to undermine support of conservatism. It is a form of Communist
propaganda.

Try any of the Lefts tricks in China and you will have written your death
sentence.
