Robert Green leaving Radio Netherlands?

I caught the tail end of Robert Green's commentary today and he was
bidding farewell to his listening audience. After he was done, the
announcer came on and said that Robert Green would be missed.

Is this for real or is it some kind of weird joke? I wish I'd heard the
whole commentary because I didn't hear Green say why he was leaving R.
Netherlands. Or maybe he stepped over the line in one of his
commentaries and was asked to leave? Does anyone know?

I havn't yet come to terms with Eddie Startz not doing "Happy Station" on
Sunday mornings.

He's hit 65 and they're retiring him. This has been an on and off
subject of his for the past 6 weeks or so.

The Dutch are pretty anal about this. One of the regulars in
sci.electronics.design got the same treatment. With their good
benefits system and high unemployment, you hit the age limit and
out you go.

I can't answer your question but I'm glad he is gone from Radio
Netherlands broadcasts.

People that pursue any journalistic avenue don't do anyone a dam bit of
good when they are so one sided on an issue. People are mostly looking
for information because they can think for themselves. When I am
actually looking for commentary I want impartialality. I want to
understand how they arrived at their point of view. The best example of
this I can think of is Bill O'Reilly. You may not agree with him but he
explains the situation as he sees it and why he comes to the
conclusions that he has.

You may not agree with his view or conclusions but you do understand
the logic of how he got them. This alone helps you understand your own
position on an issue.

Telemon, I was actually thinking about you when I posted my inquiry. If
you were in NYC tonight, I'd take you out for a few beers and we'd
celebrate.

I'm still puzzled that the management would want to put a stop to Happy
Station anyway!

How is Tom Meyer, anyone know ? (apologies if this is a regular thread!)
