What is rec.radio.shortwave for?
 

Even when you think/know your phone is hung up,the operators at your
phone company can turn your phone on and listen to anything within about
thirty feet of your phone.I always keep my phone (land line phone,I
don't own a cell phone) unplugged except when I want to use it.
