A man who allegedly fired a weapon at a rescue helicopter in the day
following Hurricane Katrina's hit on New Orleans has been indicted by a
federal grand jury.


Wendell Bailey, 20, of New Orleans, was charged with firearms possession
by
a felon and firing upon a military aircraft, prosecutors said. The grand
jury accused Bailey of shooting through the window of his apartment as a
helicopter flew over his neighborhood.


Authorities said they found two revolvers and a box of ammunition under a
mattress in his apartment. The charges carry up to 30 years in prison and
$500,000 in fines.


Bailey had been previously convicted of cocaine distribution, authorities
said.

I don't doubt at all the people whom was in that Rescue Helicopter
belive that "incident" rates as Much More than an incident to them!

I have flown in Helicopters before and we were shot at by the
Vietcong.Every one rates as a Major Event! Especially that missile that
looked just like a mushroom getting bigger and bigger coming at us one
time.Thankfully,we had some Very Good Pilots flying those Helicopters.

We were discussing the immediate aftermath and the lame excuse used by
FEMA that they couldn't come in because people were shooting at the
rescue helicopters. Once the Army arrived on Friday (2 September)
this phase was over.

I did not say that no helicopter has ever been shot at. The time
period in question was between the Hurricane and when real help showed
up.
