![]() "This week, Former Secretary of State Colin Powell's right-hand man unloaded on the Bush Administration during a speech to the New American Foundation, saying American foreign policy had been hijacked by "a Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal" that has destroyed this country's credibility with its allies. "I'm not sure the State Department even exists anymore," Col. Larry Wilkerson, Powell's chief of staff, told the audience of journalists and scholars. "It, like so many others things, have been destroyed by George W. Bush's 'cowboyism.'" Wilkerson dismisses the Administration's attempts to improve America's image abroad. "You can't sell ****," he said. " - |

She's brighter than most in congress and very good at taking ad-hoc questions. Plus, for those who like to see which way the political wind blows before comitting one way or another, she generally polls well. They would have to come up with some compelling reason to vote no that didn't reek of rank-partisanship. For the office of VP, I'm not sure anyone could say she *wasn't* qualified, presuming they are voting on merit. If voting strictly based on partisanship, who knows. I couldn't say if a straight party-line vote would be sufficient... I agree that Condi is more intelligent than most of the people that would be voting on her in CONgress.. but what would keep her from being confirmed as Veep is the fact she's both female and black. I'm neither sexist nor racist, but there are more than enough out-and-out or closet such in the country that if she were to be confirmed as Veep, with the possibility she could become President without a vote of the people, there would likely be a hew and cry such as never before seen in the US. |

Look forward to seeing Powell in the Hillary camp. With Bush senior and Monica's plaything rubbing elbows these days, anything is possible. You read it here first. Boy, what a surprising thought. And after all the nice things Powell has had to say about Bush. -- If John McCain gets the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination, my vote for President will be a write-in for Jiang Zemin. |
