The entire Plame-Outing was engineered by Rove in order to counter a
Presidential run by Hillary. The plan is to make sure the Plame leak
traces
back through Libby to Cheney. Cheney, who's health dictates he enjoy what
time he has left, is allowed to resign, which he has been wanting to do
anyway. This makes room for Condoleza Rice to be named as the replacement
Vice-Prez. Rice goes into the 2008 elections as an incumbent V.P., which
is a
decided advantage over Hillary. Plus, historically, congress-members lose
presidential elections. Rove engineers not only the first female prez, but
the first black prez (if you don't count Bill Clinton).


One flaw in that plan would be that Condi couldn't be named V.P. That
office would, Constitionally, (IIRC), be filled by the Speaker of the House.
Would it not? I believe this is what happened when Spiro Agnew retired and
Gerald Ford moved into the V.P.'s office.
