Shortwave GPS transmitter

Hmm.. WHY would you want to know where a transmitter is ??

WHat's the point of knowing GPS coordinates for a moving radio
transmitter..

??

Hi

I'm curently working on a project for college, I am thinking of
building a portable shortwave transmitter that can send me gps
cordanates to show me where it is. I face certain problems as im not
sure what frequncy to use e.g groundwave or skywave. Aswell would it be
possible to send data over a HF i heard that there is much interferance
from it, is this possible? and how much power would you reckon i would
need to transmit a fair distance say no more than 100 miles(considering
this device has to be portable).
thanks in advance.

To know where transmitters are and how much power they use and other
information about the transmitters? Sounds logical to me.

My plan was to build a tracking device to track where objects were
using the HF to transmit me the cordanates back to me.

LOL it's a college project like i said, and im in england and the law
for HF transmitting here states if your under 21 you dont need a
lisence. I'm trying to exploit this as much as i can before i become 21.

So you can transmit at a megawatt without a license in the UK, as long
as you are under 21.
Such a deal.

BTW, if you really want to get cheesy, you could use OOK to send your
data.

Several trransportation companies here in the States already do
this.they are able to detect where ALL there trucks are at any given
moment. I am ssure there are firms in England and Europe that do the
same, maybe you can check with them for information for your area.
