ARDS Australia
ACMA proposes a new community radio service for Arnhem Land, Northern Territory The Australian Communications and Media Authority is seeking comment on a proposal to make a new community radio service available in north east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The proposal follows a submission from the Aboriginal Resource and Development Services Inc (ARDS). ARDS is interested in establishing a community broadcasting service in the Yolngu Matha language to be based in Nhulunbuy with AM translator services across north-east Arnhem Land and Darwin. This service has been going in Darwin for some time now, run by the Aboriginal Resource and Development Service (ARDS). It is mainly in the Yolngu dialect (I understand a little of it, but not much), but it sometimes breaks into English. In Darwin it's on 1530 Khz, with test transmissions happening in Nhulunbuy on 1530 Khz, and a planned operating frequency of 1503 Khz. http://www.aca.gov.au/pls/radcom/lic...NCE_NO=1171060 http://www.aca.gov.au/pls/radcom/lic...NCE_NO=1171061 ARDS also have licences on a whole raft of other centres in the NT. http://www.aca.gov.au/pls/radcom/cli...ENT_NO=1215539 Regards Alan in Darwin. |
