When I joned the Army on October 28,1962,I was getting 78 dollars and
pocket change each month as a buck Private.When I was a PFC (Private First Class) I was getting one hundred and twenty five dollars and pocket change each month.When I was a Specialist Fourth Class,(same rank as Corporal which was two stripes,but I wore a patch on my sleeves with an Eagle on my patches) I was getting (I don't remember exactly how much for some reason) about two hundred and fourteen dollars and pocket change each month.(them Vietnamese helpers of ours would say,Ohhhhh,too much money!,I always told them,Not enough money!) Combat pay (extra pay) in Vietnam in 1964 amounted to an extra forty dollars each month. cuhulin |
