Shortwave Radios

I was over at my old buddy and his wifes home yesterday afternoon. He
gives me my freebie haircuts, but he doesn't trust me enough to cut his
hair,(good thinking,Ronnie) He owns a big General Electric AM wooden
cabinet Radio that also has two Shortwave bands on the radio.I wrote
them down on a piece of paper. The Shortwave band at the top of the radio
ranges from 2.7 to 22 Megacycles and the middle AM band ranges from 55
to 170 Kilocycles and the Shortwave band below that ranges from 2.5 to
7.0 Megacycles. The radio belonged to his grandmother and
understandably,he will not get rid of the radio because of sentimental
reasons. The radio is sitting on top of one of the shelves in his garage
and what with the old Railroad thingys he collects,it wasen't convenient
to turn the radio around to see what model number the radio is.My
brother in law owns an old Shortwave radio which is sitting in his two
story garage/shop,I dont know if it is a Hammarlund or what.(because I
never did on purpose get close enough to the radio) He is the kind of a
guy you dont want to ask questions about his possesions,he would give
you that kind of an evil eye "look".He is about seventy six years old
and he worked in the Pentagon and he was in the U.S.Air Force and he and
his wife (my next oldest sister) own many fine old valuable
antiques, they do not buy junk.Someday,I might work up enough nerve to
ask him if he ever wants to sell that old Shortwave radio, just let me
know.
