Art must be sad sad sad.

I last heard her about a week ago on 3840 telling the group what a
filthy (literally) guy Jim is, among other complaints. (Jim and others
are feuding with Art et al.) She was a feisty one :)

Those disputes probably seem pretty minor to all of them now.

I really admired Art and Ramona's dedication to each other.

It's quite sad. I never knew an asthma attack could be fatal.

I always thought Ramona sounded great on KNYE. Somewhere down the line,
Art has to figure out if he wants to keep her voice alive on the radio.
She is the "automated" voice doing station ID, time and temperature.

I don't know a lot about asthma, but I guess this illustrates how
dangerous it can be. If I'm not mistaken, Ramona had been "managing"
her asthma for years, only to succumb to what appears to have been an
unmanageable asthma attack. That's pretty scary when you reflect on the
number of people who have asthma.

In any case, I feel bad for Art. I hope he has some good friends nearby
who can help him through this period.

I know people that are allergic to peanuts that will have an asthma
attack and die if they eat them. Peanut oil is used in a lot of
processed products so they can't eat them.

I don't know what Ramona was allergic to but it does not matter once
the asthma attack begins. It could be something in the air or in food.
You rush them to a hospital and hope for the best that you are not to
late.

A severe attack can cause respiratory arrest and death due to suffocation.

Yes,

I really feel terrible for Art. He was with her a long time and they seemed
like great buddies not just man and wife. Many married couple are not really
"really buddies" and share the same hobby with each other. He is getting on
in age too. It's must be so so sad to be alone all of a sudden after all
this time together. As I get older, I see how cruel life really is, no if,
ands or buts.

Yes, it is beautiful too, but just look at the news everyday. Nothing but
depression.

Tell me, how come there isn't a "good news all the time" news station? Where
miracles and good things are shown to uplift people's hope, faith and
spirits?

The only thing that seems to make MONEY is death, crashes, war and
heartbreak. It says a lot about us and our society.

Exactly. Suffocation. There's no way a person can "suffocate to death"
in their sleep!

My mother had a couple of serious asthma attacks. We called 911
immediately because she COULD NOT BREATH AT ALL. There's no way anybody
could sleep through that.

Something tells me there's more to this story than we're hearing now.

She didn't die in her sleep. She was treating the attack in the same manner
she had previous attacks. The attack itself started while she was asleep,
which is not at all unusual.

Also, many people do die of suffocation/asphyxiation in their sleep. Snorers
die regularly as a result of apoxia.

In Memoriam: Ramona Bell
Art Bell's beloved wife of fifteen years, Ramona, died unexpectedly last
night after an asthma attack. At present, the exact cause of Mrs. Bell's
death has not been determined. It apparently took place during her sleep.

Until her death, Art and Ramona Bell had not been apart a day since they
were married. Mrs. Bell had suffered from asthma for years, and took her
normal steps to control the attack, which occurred sometime last night in
Laughlin, Nevada where the Bells were taking a brief vacation. Ramona Bell
was 47 years old.

TV News Director's credo from the station I used to work at when
deciding what stories would get aired at the top of the broadcast:

"If it bleeds, it leads"

Old cliché
