Wouldn't the AGC action stick some quick phase shifts in the signal? That
would be readly bad news for a DRM signal. I'd think that no or a very
slow AGC would be best and let the decoder algorithms deal with the short
term variations.

Well, not having experience with DRM and extrapolating my past digital
mode experience in its place certainly entails making risker
recommendation but that said my expatiation is that the most important
thing is to keep up the signal throughput through the dropouts without
saturating any of the radios circuits before all else.
