While I am sure that the courts will toss this, I don't have deep
enough pockets to even
think about risking the outcome. Call me a coward, but this group is at
best "fun".

At the very lest I am sure my mispellings will "annoy" someone.

Given a new law has been signed into effect that requires uses to sign
with their real name
if:

" Annoying someone via the Internet is now a federal crime.

It's no joke. Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a
prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail
messages without disclosing your true identity.

In other words, it's OK to flame someone on a mailing list or in a blog
as long as you do it under your real name. Thank Congress for small
favors, I guess.

This ridiculous prohibition, which would likely imperil much of Usenet,
is buried in the so-called Violence Against Women and Department of
Justice Reauthorization Act. Criminal penalties include stiff fines and
two years in prison.

"The use of the word 'annoy' is particularly problematic," says Marv
Johnson, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union.

The person or persons who would find your spelling annoying enough to file a complaint will
themselves already be incarerated under the same statute :-)

Word is that the POTUS has been getting a lot of hate mail and wants to
send the IRS after the perps.

I Wish! Say,how about people who use a pen name (not their real name)
and they write books or articles for online newspapers and regular paper
newspapers and magazines online and regular paper magazines and pocket
books and some people who are annoyed by some of their articles? I
bought two computer magazines at the Wal Mart store this aftenoon,PC
NOVICE,Solve 100's of Common PC Problems $9.95 and PC WORLD,A Faster PC
For Free! 12 Ways To Make It Work Like New Again $6.99.What if I find an
article in either or both magazines that is annoying to me (which is
very doubtfull,by the way) and the writer person of such an article has
used a pen name or nick name? Way I see it,it is more of the bush
administration taking away more of our rights, such as Freedom of
Speech.I thought the klintoon administration was batty as all get out,
(and they were) but the bush administration really takes the cake!

So? He doesn't even have an embassy in Pyongyang. How's he going to
enforce it?

Well, seems to me that if they wanted to protect women against
violence, they would allow women to use " pen names " much as a
novelist would do. Since I know several women who have been harrassed
via internet, phone and in person by people whom they have encountered
on line - I would think that BIG BROTHER would have figured out by now
that letting individuals use " pen names " would do more to protect the
innocent than help the guilty. Just a thought: what will this do to
the on - line dating and on - line gambling biz??
