Solar Flux Values: Interpreting Of ?
Hi,
Have read up a bit on propagation, and the Solar Flux values. But what i haven't been able to get a good feeling for are the numerical magnitudes, and the meaning of: e.g., what value of solar flux value would be considered "good," ? Higher better ? A & K values ? Lower better ? Why ? How often during the day, typically, are there "meaningful" changes, or is it a weekly thing ? etc. ? A brief explanation of all of this would be most appreciated. Thanks, B. |

Solar Flux Values: Interpreting Of ?
e.g., what value of solar flux value would be considered "good," ? Higher
better ? A & K values ? Lower better ? Why ? For A and K values, the lower the number, the better. The values typically vary with the strength of geomagnetic activity on the Sun's surface. Generally, propagation conditions are best when the A index is 15 or lower, and the K index is 3 or lower. Besides causing auroral activity, high geomagnetic field conditions can affect the electrons in the ionosphere, reducing the maximum usable frequency (MUF). Hope that helps? Jackie |
From OP: SF Number ? Solar Flux Values: Interpreting Of ?
Hi,
Thanks for info and links. What about the SF numnber ? What's a good value ? Higher the better ? Bob -------------------------------- "Robert11" wrote in message ...
