Icom R72?
WRONG!
It's kind of a cost-reduced R71, not as many features, but overall a pretty nice set. It was panned by the critics because it was not a bigger-better set than the R71 it replaced, but I had one and liked it. Performance on par with an R75. Did Mr. "pretty sucky" actually own one? I would not buy a ''communications receiver'' without an RF Gain control and defeatable AGC. http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1193 http://www.dxing.com/rx/r71a.htm |

I've had 3 R-72s and really liked them (wish I had kept one!) Not as
feature "packed" as the older R-71A or R-75 but definitely an order of magnitude better than a DX-394. I would have to rate them pretty close to the Yaesu FRG-100. A very "solid" receiver in my experience. Were poorly rated due to the excessive price when they were new. Frank K3YAZ Tucson |
