I know the 398 and the old 803a did well, but the 505 I have little experience in. If he's looking for something in the 300-400 dollar budget, there's a plethora of used radios that fit in that range. All depends on his listening habits. --Mike L. |

After much experimentation, I found that the jack works best at the RADIO end of the wire. mike well duh i dont like the idea of clipping the wire on the antenna, now my antenna is bent :(. |
