I WANT A BOATANCHOR
 

I want a boatanchor.
I want a serious looking/feeling radio !
I want switches that click
I want a hand-sized tuning knob.
I want lamps that glow in a darkened room.
I want to squint at the frequency markings.

It's hard to be a serious listener
when the receiver isn't much bigger than a pocket novel.
There's no "heft"
What kind of audio do you get from a 2" speaker ?
No place to connect an extrnal antenna or ground.
If your bench is cluttered,
you may lose sight of the damn thing completey.
I don't want to play accordion with a dozen tiny ( function ) buttons.

I laud the advances in receiver technology.
I just wish they'd put the circuitry in a cabinet
that has some heft, and some decent ( hand-sized ) controls.

Maybe some enterprising company will come up with a "dock"
for the future postage-stamp sized receivers.

Until then, I find myself drooling over
the old HAMMARLUND pics on eBay.

You're right. Nice site. I laughed near the end when I saw the photos
of all the antennas around his house. He obviously doesn't have to
contend with any lame Home Owners Association.

That is either an old Hammarlund or an old Collins big old radio that my
brother in law owns and he has in his two story workshop/storage shed in
his back yard.I wont ask him about that old radio though.I know he would
give me that old evil eye LQQK of his.

Jeebus Christler! What a COLLECTION!!!

If I have such a collection of retro/vintage radios, I would at least put
some of the rarest ones into more of a neater presentation of some sort,
with more detail on the specs and history of each radio - but thats just
me. (And now that I think about it, chances are, I most likely wouldn't
even have the gear as oranganized as WA6MHZ has his.) - nevermind

I hear ya, cuhulin. And just incase you weren't sure, I was trying to make
a joke. I have an off-the-wall sense of humor. I guess I better be careful
next time. It seems like some of the readers here that aren't familiar
