BBCWS 7160 jammed at 0300?

On Friday morning at 0300 (Thursday night in California) I tuned to the
BBC's West Africa service on 7160 because 6035 was weak. I thought there
was that same data transmission on top of it. But no, it wasn't data, it
was a BUBBLE JAMMER! It was unmistakable as an old fashioned bubble
jammer, the real simple type. Fortunately the BBC broadcast was stronger
than the jammer and I was able to make it out ok. WHO would want to jam
BBCWS English to West Africa-and only on 7160, 6035 was unaffected? 7160
originates from Ascension. The only African nation I'm aware of that
actively jammed SW was Zimbabwe, and they stopped when SW Radio Africa
went off the air on SW (they still broadcast on MW). Is anybody else
hearing this jammer over the BBC on 7160 at 0300?

7160 is/was a Radio Republica frequency beamed toward Cuba. The b05 sked had
them on from 2300-0400. So Radio Republica is possibly still using 7160 for a06
(Which I'm not hearing here right now at 0250).

In any case the frequency was being jammed by the Cubans, and probably will be
if Radio Republica is using it. When Radio Republica has changed frequencies in
the past at times the jamming continued on the previously used frequency until
the Cubans finally figured out that RR had moved.

If Radio Republica was using 7160, I'm CERTAIN that I would be hearing
them instead of the BBC. But if you weren't hearing RR at 0250 (I didn't
check before 0300 to see if RR was there) then it's likely that they've
moved, and the Cubans are jamming an empty frequency. It makes you
wonder who is in charge of jamming at RHC. (Let me guess-NOBODY.)

I was just listening to Hauser and he said that Radio Republica has moved to 5910
2300-0400. Hard for me to tell if Radio Republica is there or not, presently I only
hear the bubble jammer.
