TOM,
"All Waves" Spherical {Metal Ball} Antenna an all around Isotropic Radiator ![]() http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shortw...a/message/9223 Many years ago they used to sell an "All Waves" Spherical {8"-12"Metal Ball} Antenna that was designed to be mounted ona Pole outside the House or above the Roof and connected with an Insulated Wire going down to the Radio. It was just a 'gimmick' but it looked so cool and so round like a big silver balloon or may be even a Fat Round Space Ship . . . Isotropic Antenna : The Isotropic Radiator, is sometimes referred to as the Hairy Ball Problem. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node=antenna http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=265797 http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?...opic%20Antenna http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=15498 Better you should not concern yourself with an Isotropic Antenna and instead read : "Directional or Omni-Directional Antenna ?" -by Joseph J. Carr http://www.dxing.com/tnotes/tnote01.pdf * Joe Carr's Radio Tech-Notes http://www.dxing.com/tnotes.htm * John Wagner's Shortwave Tips & Tricks http://www.dxing.com/tips.htm QUESTIONS : What Radio would you be using in your apartment ? Do you listen to Shortwave Bands 3-30 MHz ? Are you listening to the AM/MW Broadcast Band ? iane ~ RHF |
