This "can" work but at 2.4 GHz presents significant construction
problems due to the frequency of operation. This is basically a horn
antenna with a 1/4 antenna element. All dimensions are critical to
operation and there is not much room for inaccuracy.

Generally you don't want to extent your range as you just make yourself
more open to be hacked. You do not want your signal to extend beyond
your property lines where someone can access your network say from a car
parked out in front of your house or from a neighbors house.
