Hello! I would like to buy a "portable" tabletop ( not too big and
heavy! ) SW somewhere around $500 or less but I will be using this in
brasil on the east coast and mostly want to pick up the BBC and
stations from Nigeria and Mozambique. I read in the Passport there are
certain radios better at picking up signals in certain areas of the
world but don't know which is which. Also, it is very confusing all of
this about antenaes, some you need on tabletop, others no. Any ideas??

Unfortunately, Mozambique is no longer on shortwave. Radio Terra Verde, Maputo,
was heard in April of 2005 on 7135 but apparently has not been reactivated since
then.

Do you know if Sao Tome and Principe have stations? I am looking for in
portuguese in africa, also angola speaks portuguese.

The only thing out of Sao Tome and Principe would be the Voice of America relay
station.

Angola:

Radio Nacional is supposedly on 4950 24 hours a day and Radio N'Gola Yetu is
supposedly on 7216.8 24 hours a day in vernaculars.
