I complained to radio Australia about its schuedule and about how
crappy and confusing it is and i actually got an answer about it! here goes!. The information provided on our website is for all listeners, not just those who hear us on shortwave. An increasing number of listeners now hear us via the web, satellite or via FM frequencies in their own locality - in both Asia and the Pacific. We no longer consider ourselves to be solely a shortwave broadcaster. This used to be the case up to about 8 or 10 years ago and it almost resulted in our disappearance from the airwaves. I believe that FM, satellite and on-line listeners are less likely to relate to UT/GMT than those who hear us via shortwave. Having said that though I agree with you we should also have listings in UT/GMT. I have passed on your comments to the On-Line department who look after our web page. Thanks again for your email. Kind Regards, Roger Broadbent, Programme Coordinator, English Service, Radio Australia, Melbourne. Hehe this sounds like the bbc quite alot, satellite/internet and fm still remain out of reach for many people in the Radio Australia target area (hell people might only have one *old* shortwave radio for the whole village), and is a copout of sorts and also there is much room for censorship one "failed" FM transmitter and its bye bye radio Australia (as has happened with the beeb). Back on topic im glad he is attempting to address the issue at hand and didnt just fob me off.FM will NEVER be an replacement for international broadcasters and i hope they dont see it that way.
