The display on the 6 year old radio in my car was failing.
I replaced the radio with a JVC head unit that included a built in HD Radio (IBOC) receiver. The FM stations offering HD sound okay. The AM station HD output is a tradeoff. You are trading traditional AM noise for better audio frequency response and what sounds like low sampling rates.
