Which old movie, if it never got released in the past, would still do
well if released AS IS for the very first time today? The Breakfast Club would probably be better today than it did the first time. With all of the buzz that the internet could do for it today (think Blair Witch), this intellectual movie starring Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, and others would be a major classic today. Dirty Dancing would totally tank today. Too much competition in the dancing genre not just from movie theaters but TV as well. Speaking of Patrick Swayze, Ghost would do just as well today as it did years ago. The Gremlins and Goonies would probably be slightly bigger hits if released for the first time today. Saturday Night Fever would probably become an underground hit but I don't think it would become the phenomenon that it was in its real release, and its star would probably not become an icon as a result. E.T. the Extraterrestial would totally flop today but Ghostbusters would probably be as big as the Men In Black movies but not bigger. Jaws would go straight to DVD and cable. Great for its time but obsolete in today's world. Fast Times at Ridgemont High would probably make the top 5 but no higher. The Back to the Future series would be fun to watch today for the very first time. And it would probably still be a big hit. http://sexualidol.blogspot.com |

No, wait a minute, let me guess: Since your post is about movies, and since there are movies that feature shortwave radios, your post is actually on topic and in keeping with the spirit of rec.radio.shortwave. Uh huh. |

Jeez...it's funny, but I've seen every one of those movies on TELEVISION you nit! As a matter of fact, I don't think I watched a single one of those in a theater at all. Lighten up jackass, the title of the post was clear enough. Why not just skip on by instead of being an uptight hall monitor? |

Celebrity gossip...my ass. Which inappropriate group are you posting in? I'm reading in rec.arts.tv. I guess you're in the much more highbrow celeb gossip group. I can see why you're upset. Gets in the way of all those Anna Nicole stories. You should be complaining about the foolish cross posting. No matter the group, it's still a stupid complaint. Do what I do. PLONK. |
