Default twinlead question

Hi again Group,

Thanks again for the help with the other questions I have posted on the board.

Does anyone know the hurricane net frequency? Next few days should be
interesting for me, I am near Pensacola so I may not see as much action.

For my question on twinlead, most folks now use the 300:75 ohm balun at the TV
antenna and drive coax down to the TV set. Has any one measured the impedance
at the set with the MFJ-269 or equal over the range of TV channel 2 to 13? and
14 to 69?

I recall working for a TV service man back in the 80's (I was a ham teen). He
would put a twist on the feeder as he brough it down the pole and used 6 inch
standoffs to keep the line from getting near the metal pole and to keep it
straight. He used only RCA antenna's and gave me my first digital VOM for my
birthday. I still have it today. I believe he enjoyed having a techie teen
around who enjoyed the concept of the ether.

Could we get away from the above by placing a metal shield around the twin-lead
or would this effect the impedance of the twin-lead? My goal is a folded
dipole and use the 300 ohm twin-lead with an outer shield to keep coupling from
metal out of the equation.

Well, all for now.

73's from KJ4UO.....
