Hi, my name is Les Kinney and I am a retired federal agent and historical
researcher. I am part of a group that will be traveling to a remote atoll
in the Marshall Islands in mid-December. Our research concerns the theory
that Amelia Earhart ran out of gas and landed wheels down next to a small
island at Mili Atoll. There were three local natives who witnessed this
landing during the late morning of July 3, 1937. We have found aircraft
artifacts on this small island which we believe may...

Parity ACT HR1301 Dies in Senate

The ARRL confirmed that HR1301, the Amateur Radio Parity Act, has died in
the Senate. ARRL.org reports the bill will be introduced in some form with
the next session of Congress.

We havent heard a lot from FCC Special Counsel Laura Smith lately, but she
spoke at Pacificon, a large ham conference in the San Francisco area, last
October. Her talk was recorded by Bob Miller WB6KWT and his son Robert
KA7JKP, and Bob gave us permission to use the talk for HamRadioNow.



I add a long intro, with a summary of the talks highlights and a few
comments, along with a status report on the Amateur Radio...

After the problem with the Ericsson handy in the Columbus module,

non the trasmission are in UHF Band !



Now the ISS Packet Digipeater is at 437.550 MHz.

Upgrade or else ...



When did you last upgrade your car license or get admonished for not yet
driving a Formula-1 Car? Amateur Radio is full of the "upgrade now"
brigade, but is that really required, or is there another way to enjoy your
hobby?



Also, experiments of a Coax vertical dipole without the need to do funky
stuff with the shield and other musings about my birthday.



An update on the bearing brings it all round - pun intended - for a weekly
