Default SSb Cb

What is a good working SSB CB other than a Ham rig.
I have a Cobra 148NW with a mod ( changed out the 8v regulator, adding a
resistor to the VCO circuit )to help in keeping SSB mode from sounding like
a lot of worbile in the audio. Even though it helped allot, it still has
that effect. Either **** poor ground loops, or RF getting to the PLL.
Is there a much better Radio out there other than the boxy, big square
junk radioes. I have been looking at the Magium 257s, or the Midland small
SSB unit.
To bad Icom does not make a CB.
